A WDF Dog Show is not simply a beauty contest. It is a structured cynotechnical evaluation in which breed type, morphology, function, temperament, presentation, expert judging and canine welfare are brought together under one international framework.
01
What a WDF Dog Show evaluates
Dogs are examined in relation to the official standard of their breed. The individual assessment produces a qualification; comparison between dogs in the same class and breed produces placements and access to the subsequent comparative stages.
The programme identifies the venue, date, organizing committee, expert judges, assigned breeds or groups, classes, judging times and the applicable event rules. The public calendar above provides the international overview communicated by WDF Member Clubs.

02
Event levels and certificates
Different event levels correspond to different championship opportunities. The definitive conditions are always those of the current official WDF regulations.
CAC
National Dog Show
National events may award the Certificate of Aptitude for the National Beauty Championship, at the discretion of the qualified expert judge.
CACIB
International Dog Show
International events may include both national and international championship certificates where the regulations and breed eligibility allow it.
WDF
Global / Federation Event
Flagship Federation events bring together the international network and may include a wider programme of breeds, comparative finals and institutional activities.
SPECIAL
Specialty · Sport · Work
Specialized programmes may focus on a breed, group, working aptitude, sport or another discipline established for that event.
03
The route through a Dog Show
The exact programme can vary, but the technical flow follows a clear sequence from entry to the final comparative rings.
01
Entry & identification
The dog is entered in the appropriate class and linked to its identification, pedigree or registry data and owner information.
02
Class judging
Dogs are examined by sex and class. The judge evaluates type, construction, movement and the characteristics required by the breed standard.
03
Qualification & placement
Each dog receives the applicable qualification; the best subjects in the class may be placed and selected for the next comparison.
04
CAC / CAJC / CACIB
Where provided by the event and regulations, aptitude certificates may be proposed or awarded to deserving dogs.
05
Breed comparisons
Eligible class winners proceed to the breed comparisons, including Junior Best of Breed and Best of Breed routes where applicable.
06
Ring of Honour
The qualified winners meet in the comparative finals such as Puppy, Junior, Adult, Champion and Veteran Best in Show programmes.
