The World Dog Federation invites breeders, exhibitors, judges and canine enthusiasts worldwide to express their opinions on the future organization of Best in Show competitions. Since 2023, the WDF Show Regulations have established separate Best in Show finals for Puppies, Juniors, Adults, Champions and Veterans. We are now considering new opportunities to make dog shows more inclusive, dynamic and rewarding, while giving greater recognition to different breed characteristics and presentation styles. French Bulldog Classic, Exotic and Fluffy / Mogway Bulldog – Official WDF Consultation on Breed Varieties and the Possible Recognition of a Separate Breed

the French Bulldog and the future recognition of long-haired specimens, commonly known as Fluffy or Long Hair. Currently, the WDF distinguishes two French Bulldog varieties: Classic and Exotic. These varieties share the same morphological characteristics and differ exclusively in their officially recognized coat colors. However, the increasing popularity of long-haired French Bulldogs and the development of selectively bred populations, including the Mogway Bulldog, which may also exhibit distinct morphological characteristics, have raised important questions regarding their future classification. This consultation presents three possible scenarios: recognizing Fluffy as a third variety of the French Bulldog, recognizing the Mogway Bulldog as a separate breed, or maintaining the current classification pending further technical evaluation. Voting opens: October 16, 2026. Voting closes: October 30, 2026, at 11:59 PM (Italian time). The WDF invites breeders, canine experts, judges, Kennel Clubs and professionals worldwide to participate and contribute to the future of international breed classification through an informed and responsible vote.
